Let me first state I like Heretic Spellblade series way more than this one。 I know the writer adapted this from a early career dungeon an dragon script。 So not initially written as a novel。 Mc is imprisoned and is missing many of his memories。 And during the book you never quite know if he is a villain or a anti-hero。 His entire arc is selfish namely his own freedom。 In the end not much progress is made。 Not much from the world is shown in the book。 Takes place mostly in 1 location and this has Let me first state I like Heretic Spellblade series way more than this one。 I know the writer adapted this from a early career dungeon an dragon script。 So not initially written as a novel。 Mc is imprisoned and is missing many of his memories。 And during the book you never quite know if he is a villain or a anti-hero。 His entire arc is selfish namely his own freedom。 In the end not much progress is made。 Not much from the world is shown in the book。 Takes place mostly in 1 location and this has a negative impact。 If you like Heretic Spellblade sure read this to tide you over。 But keep in mind this reads like a very unpolished training attempt compared to Heretic Spellblade。 。。。more

Well DoneThis novel was a great jump off point for a fun story。 The characters all had plenty of time to breathe and develop, and the plot pacing was perfect。 The unique magic system is similar to wheat the author has presented before so there is an ease of familiarity to the flow of things。 I'm intrigued, and can't wait to see where we go next。 Well DoneThis novel was a great jump off point for a fun story。 The characters all had plenty of time to breathe and develop, and the plot pacing was perfect。 The unique magic system is similar to wheat the author has presented before so there is an ease of familiarity to the flow of things。 I'm intrigued, and can't wait to see where we go next。 。。。more

Not a bod startThis was an enjoyable start for a series。 The MC is strong but not yet op。 The harem build is slow and well thought out。

It was not that bad per se, but it didn't capture my attention either。 I did not find the characters and the world very interesting。 It was not that bad per se, but it didn't capture my attention either。 I did not find the characters and the world very interesting。 。。。more

Interesting premise, but in desperate need of editingThis was a good yarn, with many interesting characters although extremely similar to the author's other series Heretic Spellblade and Empire Reforged。Unfortunately, this title suffered from extremely poor editing and was either very rushed or a very early-career work that had been dubiously updated for publication。 On multiple occasions, character's names were misspelled or words were altogether missing from sentences。 Most jarring however, we Interesting premise, but in desperate need of editingThis was a good yarn, with many interesting characters although extremely similar to the author's other series Heretic Spellblade and Empire Reforged。Unfortunately, this title suffered from extremely poor editing and was either very rushed or a very early-career work that had been dubiously updated for publication。 On multiple occasions, character's names were misspelled or words were altogether missing from sentences。 Most jarring however, were switches of narration tenses between past and present even within the same paragraph。 I think with proper editing, this could be a four-star pulp fantasy harem title。 As it stands however, a solid 2。5 is the best I can give it for now。 Definitely worth a read, but you may find yourself rereading the same sentences multiple times in an attempt to glean the author's intent。 。。。more
